A good Good Friday

Fridays are always the day that my mom, sister, and me (when I’m home) go to town to run errands and mess around.

So we got pedicures which is one thing I desperately needed! I usually go for pink nail polish on my toes and the lady did a great job! The only thing I don’t like is the massage type part. It always tickles me.

We did some other little errands, but then it was time for me to get ready for one of my best friend’s weddings! I can’t believe that it was only a couple of summers ago that we were “chasing” boys and hanging out at sonic on summer nights…Time flies. She’s the one in the yellow.

Look how tan I look! I am like overall tan! I am so ready for summer to get here!

Anyways, I took my fancy little Nikon to the wedding and tried to get some pictures. The lighting was weird so I had a difficult time getting good pictures and didn’t spend time messing with things to get all the settings figured out for the lighting. I got pictures of all kinds of details, but didn’t get many pictures with actual people. Rookie photographer mistake.

This was the aisle and where the doors are was the altar area. My favorite decoration was the box spring twin mattress that served as a chandelier type decoration. It was really cute!

The best part was the bride had a chocolate cake. One layer was of course vanilla, but she had a layer of chocolate! The chocolate cake alone made my night…

I definitely had the best looking date at the wedding…this is seriously the best picture of us I got. I do have a better one that my friend’s mom took, but just for fun I put this one up.

Here’s a better one:

Overall, it was a beautiful and simple wedding. A few of my friends and I were in charge of the guest book table and the cake serving, so that was a dandy time we had. I’m a pro at asking people to sign the guest book.

The ceremony was lovely, quick, and got the job done! The reception afterwards was fun too and it was good to be with people who I don’t get to see all the time since I don’t go to school here. That’s one wedding down and two more weddings to go that I get to be a bridesmaid in! Woo hoo! And the wedding madness can commence.

Today was just a lazy laidback Saturday. My mom made waffles this morning and of course they were delicious. I topped mine with peanut butter, syrup, and some sliced bananas with a cup of coffee to go along.

Other than that I’ve just done some things with my Dad and some little things to get ready to resume school next week. It’s been a warm and gorgeous day to be outside!

I did make it out for a nice 3 mile run and once again had a pretty fast 5k time. This picture makes it look like I have no hair and I have squinty eyes. So cute. After I recovered with some yoga for runners. I’ll post the video some time.

The rest of my evening will consist of some Easter egg dyeing and watching Wichita St. cruise to the final 4 over Ohio! March Madness is a crazy time of year. Upsets everywhere!

This guy #31 Ron Baker is the reason why I’m going for Witchita. I think he’s kinda cute!

And lastly just something to keep in mind for Easter:

Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Romans 6:8-11

Just like Christmas it’s easy to forget why we celebrate Easter. Christ died for our sins so that we could have eternal life with him in heaven. Because of Christ I am free of sin. That doesn’t mean I don’t sin (because trust me I do every day), but it means I have been forgiven for my sins through the resurrection of Jesus.

Thursday Thoughts 1

Today is my first Thursday Thoughts post! Hopefully I have some provoking thoughts to share with you today. We’ll see how it goes…

1) I really want to change the design of my blog. I want to spice it up a little. Add some splashes of color. Make my font look better for this type of text. I want a new header. I just really want my blog to look a little more professional and more fetching! I’m thinking it will just be easier to pay someone to do it haha here’s an example one that I like. It’s simple, but still looks awesome to me. I think I’ll push this back to be one of my summer projects.

2) This is just a picture I came across on Tumblr that is good to keep in mind. I know on here that I am repetitious with some of my words. I’m going to use at least 5 words from this list in my post italics.

3. NCAA March Madness anyone?! My bracket ended up not working, except Kansas who I have winning the tournament so hopefully they make it. I think it’s impossible to have a flawless bracket. I really don’t watch college basketball until March Madness comes around and I still haven’t watched many games this year. What a shame. What a shame.

4) Here I am home on Spring Break and I have been craving oatmeal in the mornings. I was dreaming of protein pancakes every morning this week, but it seems like my stomach is just wanting oatmeal. Which I do make a pretty scrumptious bowl of oatmeal if I do say so myself.

5) Some days you just have to drink a Dr. Pepper. Today, I spent the morning working with my Dad moving panels and pulling up fence posts (perks of being a farmer’s daughter). After I got all my fence posts pulled up and unloaded I saw my Papa J was at his barn so I pulled up there and talked to him for awhile. He offered me a coke and I grabbed a Dr. Pepper for old times sake. We just sat on the tail gate of his pickup and talked for awhile. I don’t drink cokes, but I figured one wouldn’t hurt.

Then he sent me over to see Grandma Katy and we just sat on the front porch for awhile catching up and of course she fed me too much Easter candy. It was chocolate and I didn’t have the audacity to say no.  Later, Grandma Katy and I went over to the barn and just sat and talked more with my Grandpa, Dad, and Uncle.

Some days you are thankful for the little things like drinking a Dr. Pepper with your Grandpa on his tailgate, sittin on the front porch with your Grandma, and talking in the barn while the day comes to an end.

6) This afternoon after all the talking was done I decided to go for a quick run. I started out with just wanting to run 1 mile, that turned into 2 and before I knew it I was going for 3. I think today was definitely one of my faster 5k times. It was just one of those days were you feel like you are flying down the road and aren’t even tired.

Well I’m going to skedaddle to the couch to watch some basketball!!

Gettin a little colorful

It makes me so happy that I have time to blog today. I think it’s something that only “bloggers” would understand. Moving on!

Since I’m on Spring Break I’ve had time to cook myself breakfast in the morning. You know what that means? Protein pancakes! Yummmm!

Today and Monday I’ve used a protein pancakes recipe from Carrots N Cake. I always put peanut butter on my pancakes. That’s the best way to eat them.

DSC_0482DSC_0490I’m getting hungry posting pictures of those haha good thing my mom is cooking supper! The quality on the bottom picture is kinda poor sorry.

DSC_0493Then after I finished my pancakes today I was still kind of hungry, so I decided to have a glass of chocolate milk. I used to have chocolate milk all the time, but now if I do drink anything aside from water it’s coffee with creamer.

So today for my workout I did this cardio kickboxing video from Youtube. It was cardio, kickboxing with some strength training too. It was pretty hard, but I really enjoyed doing it. So if you’re ever looking for an at home cardio workout this is a good one.

DSC_0485This is a picture after my workout from Monday. I did a mashup of leg and arm videos from Youtube that lasted around 35 minutes.

Now on to more exciting and colorful things! This weekend after our little Color Run in Lubbock we went shopping. I did not buy anything that was black…well except for some VS underwear but those don’t really count. Anyways, look at all these colorful clothes. I know I’m gettin’ a little crazy.

DSC_0495Really the only nice piece of clothing I got were a pair of mint shorts from Target. I needed a new every day jacket and my mom told me she wouldn’t buy me anything grey or black, so I went with this washed out red jacket.

I already have wayyy too many t-shirts, but I added a few more to my collection. I got a cute Texas Tech t-shirt that’s a washed out turquoise with bright pink wording. The ZTA t-shirt and shorts are the items that I am most excited about.

DSC_0501I am obsessed with these shorts! They didn’t have any smalls so I had to go with a medium which is a little big for me, but I didn’t care! These Texas star shorts are really big in Texas (go figure). At the summer camp I work at all the little girls have them and I’ve been wanting a pair for a long time! A pair of Texas star shorts with Zeta on them is the perfect combination.

DSC_0503I’ve also made an observation that a big trend with the Southern sororities are to wear big oversized t-shirts that are of washed out colors. I don’t know how to explain it really. They only had larges and up in this shirt, but I loved it so I got it anyway. With Greek Week starting next week and continuing for 3 weeks, comfort is a must. I will be living in shorts and t-shirts, so this one will be extra comfy.

DSC_0507I also got some new lotion from Victoria’s Secret and it’s called Sunkissed. It honestly smells like summer. I’m not sure how to explain it, so go smell it for yourself!

Well my Mom almost has supper ready so here’s a good read that y’all should check out from Running With Spoons:

Is your wardrobe very colorful?
